Bursting at the 36 week seams…

I feel like a blimp at this point.  My  feet are super swollen and it’s very uncomfortable for me to sit for extended periods.  Just a few more weeks and we’ll get to gaze into our sweet baby’s eyes for the first time.

Jack’s Tropical Baby Party

June 20th, 2010

Despite our worries for the weather, the party turned out great.  A special THANKS goes out to my brother Karl for roasting a delicious pig, my Sister-in-law for helping plan and organize the party, and my mother for being the driving force behind it all. Frank and I had a wonderful time and believe the guests did too! Jack received so many wonderful gifts, all of which he is sure to love!

And he shall be named…

Poem to Jack from Dad

May 1st, 2010
Christina

This is a Poem Frank wrote back in December before we knew the gender:

Jack

whatever your middle name
ends up being
I hope
you turn out to be a boy
or I will feel bad
about this poem.
Maybe a hard drive crash
will save me.
This is your father
and off the bat
(and there will be bats, boy)
you should know
this is what I do
at night when I
seem to worship
the light from the square
in front of my face.
I write about love.

You are now a dot
in some other dots
(it reminds me of a hurricane)
on a picture
3 x 4
or so
on the side of the fridge
where no one can see
except your grandmother maybe
(that would be funny
I know her first word would be, “Oh.”)
if she showed up
unannounced.

Jack
we’re going to have problems.
I anticipate you may
wreck my bike
hate my mower
aim your first
good
fuck you
at me
learn the shape of my hand
recognize the steel in me
when it rises
let me in one ear
and always out the other
rail at me
when you mean to
do it to the world
and disagree with me
for the best reason ever:
just because.

Jack
there are truths
you need to know.
I didn’t mean
to make things hard.
Shit will happen.
Damn it.
The internet just died on me.
Love is worth it
every time
even if it’s wrong.
And
you and I
will share
Infinite varieties of breakfast
and
death.

Playing catch up at 23 Weeks

I knew it…I KNEW it! I would become a little lazy when it came to updating this blog. Sorry folks (if anyone actually reads this), as of late, work has been draining me mentally.  I’ve even had to work some weekends, which I’m not too thrilled about and thanks to these HORMONES, I’ve made it very clear to my boss my dislike for it. I spend all day at a computer and the last thing I want to do is come home and be on one. Anyway…here’s a little update:

Due Date: August 4, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: 8 lbs gained (145 lb)
Maternity clothes? Still wearing my regular clothes, but when it comes to my jeans, I’ll use the Belly Band to feel more comfortable in them.
Sleep: Meh, it’s getting harder for me to get comfortable at night but Frank’s back rubs always help to relax me
Best moment this week: Feeling the little nudges in my belly more frequently (usually after I eat). Also, I’ve been feeling grrreat and I have my energy back. Let’s see how long this lasts.
Movement: See above
Food cravings: Nothing crazy yet. I do enjoy a good salad and fruit smoothies
Food aversions: The thought of eating a steak is not so bad to me anymore.
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: None (I hope) I have had some mild cramping but I think those are baby growing pains.
Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss: Not much, but give me a couple more weeks.
What I am looking forward to: My time off from work
Milestones: Passing the half-way point. I hope it’s smooth sailing from here.
Other:   Went to Babies-r-us with Frank today and was overwelmed with the amount of baby stuff there is. We had some good laughs though. It will probably take me the rest of the week to complete the registry as I have no idea what we really need.
